Our performance project for the Isle of Ely Arts Festival 2018 is “The Running Hare”, a new one-hour show combining contemporary dance and poetry. The title comes from the book by farmer and writer John Lewis-Stempel and it fits like a glove with the Arts Festival’s theme for 2018, “Flora and Fauna”. We’re exploring themes from the book, to do with the reduction in the number and variety of flora and fauna in the land the author took over and how the natural world bounced back when allowed to. We’re collaborating with Kate Caiomhe Arthur, the current Fenland Poet Laureate, who won the title with her amazing poem “Tree”. The programme is in three sections, “The Field”, “The River” and “The Running Hare”. Music is by “contemporary classical” composers Yann Tiersen, Nils Frahm and Eric Whitacre. Should be a great show!
Performance at The Paradise Centre, Ely, 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 24th June. Tickets £6 adults / Under 16s free, on the door on the day.
